Nayra Martin-Key
Assistant Research Professor
I completed my PhD in Psychology at the University of Southampton, where I focused on using eye-tracking methods to investigate the mechanisms underlying the emotion recognition and empathy deficits exhibited by adolescents with Conduct Disorder. Following the completion of my PhD, I worked in industry as a Clinical Research Manager for Qbtech, a medical device company focusing on the objective management of Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder.
I am currently working as an Assistant Research Professor in the Bahn Lab, where my main responsibilities regard developing and using digital technologies to screen, diagnose, and triage mental health concerns, particularly in regards to women's health. I am also interested in drivers to intention to use digital technologies, such as mobile apps, for mental health symptoms throughout the menstrual cycle, the perinatal period, and the menopause. In addition, I am interested in patient and public involvement research and in using co-designing approaches to facilitate the development of technology.

Assistant Research Professor

My research focuses on developing better ways to diagnose and treat major mental health conditions, such as bipolar disorder, depression and schizophrenia. I combine biological research with digital tools and advanced data analytics to create more accurate and personalised approaches. I studied Biotechnology at Jagiellonian University in Krakow, trained at the Max Planck Institute of Psychiatry in Munich, and completed my PhD in Neuroscience with Prof. Bahn, carried out between Erasmus Medical Centre in Rotterdam and the University of Cambridge. I then continued in Prof. Bahn’s laboratory at Cambridge as a postdoctoral and senior postdoctoral researcher. In my current role as Assistant Research Professor, I focus on translating biomarker discoveries into tools that can improve clinical care.
